Walnut Grove Community Presbyterian Church is located on Grand
Island in the small town of Walnut Grove in the Sacramento Delta.
It is the only Delta town located on both sides of the Sacramento
River. The California Delta is one of the world's largest estuary
systems with over a thousand miles of inland waterways and dozens
of islands. It is an area known for its unique beauty, recreational
opportunities and rich farmland. Walnut Grove counts among its
residents people involved in the agricultural and recreational
industries as well as those who commute to the Sacramento, Stockton
and San Francisco Bay areas. Large Chinese, Japanese, Filipino
and Hispanic populations have also given the area a rich ethnic
heritage.
